Abstract

Purpose: We evaluated the clinical results of phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) for recurrent corneal erosion
(RCE) refractory to other forms of treatment.
Methods: A total of 5 eyes from 5 RCE patients who had been initially treated with conventional therapy but suffered from recurrence, were treated using PTK with 193 nm excimer laser. We investigated the preoperative and postoperative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), spherical equivalent (SE), average keratometric value, re- epithelialization time, corneal haze, complications and recurrence.
